FAQ

How is the database accessed the first time?

From the login window, click on register and follow on to the next steps.

Once you are registered with a login and password, you can directly access the user control panel.

How can I access the database to see what other institutions, traveling exhibits and professionals are part of Culturable?

Registering will only give you partial access to the profiles in our database. In order to access the whole database you must have at least one approved profile. Once your profile is approved you will be able to log in to your account and access the whole database (including available exhibition, spaces, and professional profiles), plus the whole range of services provided by Culturable, such as The Professional Forum and The Calendar of Events.

How much does it cost to add information?

Nothing. It is FREE now, and always will be.

How much does it cost to download information from the databases?

Downloading information from the databases is CURRENTLY FREE. In the future (when we have profiles for 500 institutions), access to download information will cost 450 €* per year for users who are not part of the network.

For those institutions or professionals that maintain at least one profile in one of the databases for each of the three available categories (institutions, travelling exhibits and professionals), download access will cost 120 €* per year.

What is the benefit?

Joining a professional directory and network focusing on the management of temporary exhibitions – from all points of view.

Will I commit myself to take on any obligation by adding information?

The institution or professional who adds information does so without making any type of commitment.

The only obligation is to keep your profile up-to-date. If your profile is not updated at least once a year, Culturable will move it to the Drafts folder, because it is our goal to provide a tool that is continually up-to-date.

I didn’t find very many profiles once I was registered. I don’t know if it’s worth it to enter my data.

We are just getting started.

Make a difference.

Stay with us and help us to grow.

Why are there conditions to adding information the databases?

Culturable's goal is to be a useful directory for the benefit of bona fide institutions and professionals. Better to have two hundred accurate profiles than a thousand doubtful ones.

How is the database kept up to date?

Entities and professionals are responsible for their own profile updates. From the control panel, you may access and change profile information as you see fit.

Is the information reliable?

When information is added, the Culturable team examines it. Only when verified, is the information published. This way we can avoid those doubtful profiles.

I am very busy person and don’t have time to get involved in anything else.  I’m not sure I will be able to make use of Culturable if it takes up a lot of work.

You get to decide if Culturable is worth your while, and it is up to you for how long you want to be part of us. When deciding remember, though, the amount of time it usually takes to find out a suitable space or a similar gallery to what you are using, and to get to know what their technical capabilities are; and how long it normally takes to find the right person, qualified professionals and service providers, and a host institution with a set of guiding principles that matches the focus you want to give to your particular exhibit.

Also remember that becoming a member of Culturable will facilitate the task of coming to co-production and traveling exhibition agreements. Thanks to Culturable you will be able to know in advance how much work it will take to keep on showing previously produced exhibitions or the degree of difficulty associated with setting up the exhibits produced by other institutions, and the services required by particular exhibit in order to make it successful.

The task of creating a profile takes a total of about 30 minutes, and can be completed over several sessions. Once you have an approved profile it will take you no more than five minutes to use the database system for detail queries. We use a relational query system, which allows for precise and detailed filters when doing a profile search. Just define and pick the filter of your choice and click on the Culturable search tool, and we will match your selection to the available data.

Why is not there a print edition of Culturable?

The Internet is the natural media for Culturable, mainly because of the total control it gives users over their profiles. By being able to modify and delete their profiles at any time, the users continually update the information, guaranteeing accurate data that would not be possible in a print edition.

How can I help Culturable grow?

There are several ways in which you can help us to achieve our mission.

1. Spread the word. Mail or tell your colleagues about Culturable.

2. Registered users can send an invitation to their professional colleagues through the control panel.

3. Send us a list of the institutions that you think would be interested in knowing more about us, making sure to include the names, positions, and e-mail addresses of the people in charge at each of them, and we will contact them.

What information and material are required to complete a profile?

To know what kind of information and images you will need to provide go to the “What to expect” section, where you will find examples of profile editing.

Is it possible to become part of Culturable as an independent curator or as an exhibition technician?

Culturable has determined not to accept independent curators or exhibit technicians, in spite of the fact that they are the heart and soul of an exhibition (as their conceptual designers and as the ones in charge of bringing it to life), because of there not being any objective or unifying criteria through which to approve a profile for these professionals when working on their own, and not as part of an institution.

How can I access the database if I am an artist or a commercial gallery?

Culturable is designed as a management tool for institutions that produce art, history or science exhibits whose content is not for sale. As a result, Culturable will not accept profiles from commercial art galleries, antiques shops or artists, although these groups will be able shortly to subscribe, in order to access the database.

How are events added to the calendar?

From the control panel of each entity, events such as openings or activities parallel to exhibitions (conferences, round tables, concerts, etc.) can be added. The added event will be visible by public visitors to the Culturable site.

What is the Culturable Professional Forum?

A space where you can make suggestions, state your opinion, create discussion threads, etc. Being an internal resource, only registered users may use the access panel to enter the forum, thus assuring a professional atmosphere.

Where is Culturable?

Our base of operations is located in Spain.
